Art and creativity have been the golden threads that have snugly sewn together the experiences of this beautiful life. The best of times and the worst of times all bound together in a layered tapestry that explores life & natures bounty through a variety of mixed media techniques, all fused together with fire, love and many richly luminous layers of Encaustic Medium.

What is an Encaustic Medium?

It’s a blend of Bees Wax & Demar Resin that has been used steadily since the 1st Century BC. With a melting point of 180 degrees Celsius, it is as durable as it is luminous and the one medium I've found to unify my varied art techniques into a cohesive whole. Each piece it's own unique blend of colour, light, depth, technique and translucency. The only way to describe a piece of Encaustic art, is a delicious and luminous feast for the eyes.

What is Mixed Media Encaustic?

The base of every mixed media Encaustic art piece is that lustrous blend of beeswax, Demar resin, fire & love fused into wood and/or clay. The rest is a nod to the details in nature enhanced with watercolor, oil painting, pastels, charcoal, ink, print making techniques, carving, specialty paper, imagination and whatever else I happen to find and fuse along my way.

December’s Guest Artist appearance at Canmore’s: The Artist’s of Elk Run Open Studio Tour was an absolute success. The weekend was filled inquisitive visitors and artists of all mediums doing demos, answering questions and of course selling one of a kind art.
